Firstly, let me make it perfectly clear from the outset I couldn’t give a fcuk what anyone thinks of this blog. These are my musings, my opinions, and I strongly believe in my (and your) rights to free speech, and hell do I intend to exercise those rights…
Are personal blogs just a load of self indulgent crap – or is there a point to them?
Okay – I´ll come clean – I’ve had a personal website since they were websites in those days long ago before the world of blogging came into existence. I now have a blog, I have no urge to be famous – I have no urge to make money from it (apart from a few cents on Google adsense and a couple of affiliate links)- I didn’t set it up for SEO reasons – in fact I’d be surprised if anyone could guess my real motives…
To quote – well – myself from its first incarnation in the heady days of the 90’s…
“I won’t be offended if you don’t like this – frankly, I don’t much care – lets face it – who does care about personal home pages – I’m not particularly interested in the details of your life, and nor should you be mine – you don’t give a damn about my favourite foods – where I shop – my vacation… and what really bugs me is all those sad individuals who spend their time registering garbage like this with search engines – thus wasting both my time and their own …!
Is it just me, or are there many other people out there who think that the Internet – has been rendered virtually worthless. It has been taken over by small business spam merchants, paedophiles and pornographers. By the classified advertising get-rich-quick types. By the alter ego’s of desperate and lonely people of people who spend there waking hours dreaming of cyber-sex. Every sad sick and exploitative individual on the face of the planet has been given a voice. Possibly the greatest human invention since the wheel, now only serves as a reminder of what an absurd species we are…”
Has much changed? In my opinion its got worse…
Blogs – “the next big wave” on the internet…? The easy way to fame and fortune…? Or, an easy way for the jerks who promote phrases like this to dupe you into paying for “how to” information…
